Mrs. AttaBoy

Richard and Laura BehneyHello!  My name is Laura Behney, and yes, I have been called "Mrs. AttaBoy", because my husband, Richard, and I are the owners of AttaBoy Plumbing Company

My personal goal when Richard and I started AttaBoy was to create a company culture that stressed the importance for our plumbers to not only treat all of our customers and their homes with respect, but especially our female customers.

Since I am typically the one who takes care of "home management" items in our house, I know what it is like to have a service technician in my home.  I have had good ones and I certainly have had bad ones....you know the ones....inappropriate stares, tracking in mud, and my pet-peave:  talking down to me because I'm a woman! Errr, that drives me crazy!

When you have an AttaBoy Plumber in your home, you will never feel uncomfortable or feel like you are being talked-down to.  That is my promise to you.  Our plumbers are the best in town, not only in plumbing skills and professionalism, but more importantly, they are good, kind and courteous men.  I would trust any of them in my home.

The AttaBoy Family is proud to serve our neighbors in Fishers, Carmel, Geist, Zionsville, Noblesville and the greater Indianapolis area.  We consider it a privilege to provide quality plumbing service, at a good value, all the while treating our customers with the utmost respect.  The next time you have a plumbing concern, I encourage you to give AttaBoy Plumbing Company a try.  You'll be glad you did!

State Fair Tragedy in Indianapolis

Let AttaBoy be your "Go To" Plumbing Service!

Monday, March 21, 2011 by Laura Behney
AttaBoy Plumbing CompanyWe received another great review from a customer in Fishers today that I wanted to share:

"Atta Boy came out to help us with our plumbing needs within hours of our phone call!!!  The tech was very professional & friendly.  Most important, he gave us 3 pricing options to fit our budget needs. They are now going to be our 'go to' plumbing service."

I just love and appreciate getting such great feedback from our customers.  It is always our goal to give each customer options when faced with a plumbing repair and then leave it up to the customer to decide what will work best for their needs and budget.  It is also our goal to be professional, friendly and quick to respond and then, to get out of your hair!

So whatever the plumbing problem, whether it is hot water heater issues, toilets running, drains backed up, or a dripping faucet, call AttaBoy and let us exceed your wildest expectations!  You'll be glad you did!

Mrs. AttaBoy

As always, proudly serving the Indianapolis, Fishers, Carmel, Noblesville, Zionsville, Westfield, Greenwood, Avon, Broad Ripple and Geist areas.

More important than plumbing

Monday, February 21, 2011 by Laura Behney
blood donorThis blog post will be a little bit different than my normal posts about leaking hot water heaters, clogged drains, sump pumps and running toilets.  While I LOVE posting information about AttaBoy Plumbing, Heating and Cooling services and our plumbers and technicians, today, I have a different agenda.

Last week, I did something for the very first time in my life that I should have done years ago.  I donated blood.  I'm not sure why I've never done that before, I really have no excuse.  I heard a radio commercial that said our blood banks were low on blood and so I went online to www.donorpoint.org and scheduled an appointment.  It was so easy!

I arrived at the Fishers blood center for my appointment (I know they have locations in Indianapolis, and other Marion and Hamilton county cities), filled out some necessary paperwork, donated about a pound of blood, had a cookie and some juice and I was on my way!  It was a snap!  Walking out, I was thinking to myself, "why have you never done this before?"

So if you haven't donated blood recently or EVER, like me, I want to really encourage you to make an appointment.  The life you save, could be your own....or someone you love.

How do you find a Plumber?

Sunday, December 26, 2010 by Laura Behney
Say your water heater is leaking or all of your drains are clogged or you are in need of having a gas leak repaired.  Maybe your basement is flooded from all of the melting snow and your sump pump or back up has failed or you finally are going to get a new water softener and get rid of that hard water. You know you need a plumber, but where do you find one you can trust?

Just a few short years ago, we all "Let our fingers do the walking in the Yellow Pages", but times have changed and the majority of us turn to our computers or smart phones and let our fingers do the clicking.  We all know that we can find just about anything (and then some) on the Internet, and that includes plumbers.

Finding a good plumber online is takes some time.  Anybody can put up a website and get themselves listed online.  Check out the reviews for the plumbing company on the major search engines.   Positive reviews written by actual customers are a great way to feel confident about a local plumber.  While it's not possible to please all the customers all the time, make sure a large majority of the reviews are positive.

Also check out the plumbing company's website for money saving coupons.  Some companies offer coupons, but you have to sign up for their newsletter first.  AttaBoy has a link to numerous coupons right from our website and these days all of us could use some savings!

So whether you're in Indianapolis, Fishers, Carmel, Noblesville, Broad Ripple or Zionsville, don't drag out that five pound phone book, just pop open your laptop and get Googling!  Or better yet, just call AttaBoy Plumbing, Heating and Cooling.  You'll be glad you did!

AttaBoy Plumbing Company TV Commercials

Wednesday, November 17, 2010 by Laura Behney

AttaBoy Plumbing Co. - PlumberWe’ve had a lot of fun over the years, conveying our message on central Indiana (including IndianapolisFishers, Carmel, Noblesville, Greenwood Geist, Avon and Zionsville) radio and television. We tried to make leaking faucets, water heaters, drain clogs, broken water lines and toilet problems fun, well as fun as they can be. (Hey, our plumbers think they are fun!)

Some of our commercials have been "retired", so I thought maybe some of you might miss seeing some of these classics or just needed a fun plumbing pick-me-up, so here's a link to all of commercials.  (But beware, you'll be humming our song all day!)

Don't worry about your plumbing on vacation!

Monday, October 11, 2010 by Laura Behney

I just can't show this picture enough! It was taken in Michigan, however, could easily be a picture taken in Carmel, Geist, Fishers, Greenwood, Noblesville, Indianapolis, etc.

It is a picture of a garage that had a water line burst while the homeowners were on vacation.  After the water line reputured, unfortunately, temperatures dropped below freezing turning the garage into a frozen nightmare.  Not the scene that you want to find returning from a relaxing vacation!

As the holiday season is fast approaching and folks are planning vacations, don't forget to plan on protecting your home while you are gone by taking the following easy precautions:
  • Turn off the main water shut-off valve to your home.
  • Open cabinet doors of all bathroom vanities and kitchen cupboards to allow warm air to heat the pipes under the sink.
  • Secure windows, crawlspace openings and basement doors to keep the cold away from your water pipes.
  • Remove hoses from outside hose spigots.
By doing these few things, you will be able to enjoy that well-deserved vacation and not even think about calling a plumber or about AttaBoy Plumbing Company!  But you could send us a postcard if you want! :)

Yahoo! Our customers LOVE AttaBoy Plumbers!

Tuesday, October 5, 2010 by Laura Behney
Here's a great review that can be found on Yahoo! from Karen, an AttaBoy customer:

The Attaboy team is composed of real professionals! The friendly receptionist got us scheduled for the next day. Our plumber was timely, wore a clean uniform, and fixed our toilets with ease. He even took the time to answer our questions. I would recommend Attaboy to anyone who wants stress free plumbing repairs and great customer service!

Thanks, Karen, for your kind words and recommendation!

And Karen is right!  For stress free plumbing, great customer service and plumbers you can trust, AttaBoy Plumbing is your plumbing company!  Let us handle all your plumbing needs from drain cleaning to tankless water heaters, we do it all! And we cover it all....from Avon to Zionsville, Carmel to Fishers, Indianapolis to Noblesville, Greenwood to Westfield.  AttaBoy IS central Indiana's local plumber.

AttaBoy Plumbing Co - Central Indiana and elsewhere?

Friday, September 10, 2010 by Laura Behney

We are asked all the time if AttaBoy Plumbing is a national franchise.  Rest assured, that AttaBoy is locally owned and operated and not a part of any national franchise.  But we did find out a number of years ago that there are other AttaBoy Plumbing Companies in a few other states (NY, TX, LA and WA).  While we are in no way affiliated with those AttaBoy's, we think they've got a GREAT name!

Although they probably perform plumbing services and repairs in their neck of the woods, we are the only local AttaBoy plumber that tackles plumbing problems such as leaking water heaters, gas leaks, clogged drains and water softeners in Indianapolis, Fishers, Carmel, Zionsville, Noblesville, Westfield, Avon and Greenwood.  AND, the other companies don't have Buddy!

Enjoy Labor Day - Our Plumbers will be!

Friday, September 3, 2010 by Laura Behney
According to the US Department of Labor's website:

Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.

Richard and I want to honor the wonderful plumbers that are a part of the AttaBoy Plumbing family, who contribute to our business and serve our customers well, but who also contribute to the "strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country".  Thank you to our great AttaBoy team!  YOU are one of the reasons that America is strong and healthy!!

Have a great Labor Day Weekend everyone and enjoy the "rest" from your labor, as will our plumbers.  Then, on Tuesday, they'll be ready to get back to solving plumbing problems and providing solutions to Indianapolis and the surrounding area....our small part of this great nation.

Our Indianapolis Plumber exceeds wildest imagination!

Thursday, September 2, 2010 by Laura Behney
We got a great online review from an Indianapolis customer on CitySearch.com.  Here it is:

The plumber was prompt, helpful and very nice to deal with. They would have come same day as I called but that did not work for me. They fixed my outdoor spigot and it works better than my wildest imagination!

It is our goal at AttaBoy Plumbing to consistently exceed your expectations!  Let us handle your plumbing problems and exceed your "wildest imagination"!

How much is your toilet worth in Fishers?

Monday, August 30, 2010 by Laura Behney
Is your toilet worth $15,000?  Probably not.  But someone thought this toilet is!

This porcelain toilet bowl, once owned by John Lennon, was auctioned off this weekend for $15,500! Amazing!  For a toilet!

AttaBoy Plumbing supplies many different types and styles of toilets, but I must admit, our plumbers have never been asked for a blue-flowered, porcelain toilet!  But I know where we can get one, but it's no where near Fishers, Carmel, Noblesville, Zionsville or Indianapolis AND.....it's gonna cost ya!  :)

Gas leak forces evacuation of Noblesville Walmart

Wednesday, August 25, 2010 by Laura Behney

Gas leaks are serious.  Thankfully, this was caught in time.  Here's the story from WTHR from last week:

Noblesville - The Walmart at 16865 Clover Road was evacuated overnight because of a gas leak.

Around 3:30 Wednesday morning, an employee moving boxes in the rear of the store punctured a gas line.

Employees heard a hissing sound and then smelled the natural gas odor.

The manager quickly called the fire department.  They evacuated all the employees and one woman who was shopping.

It took about an hour for the gas company to shut down the line.

Just before 5:00 a.m., the all clear was given and everyone was allowed back in the store.

So follow the actions of this "on the ball" employee....whenever you think you smell a gas leak, leave the premises and call the authorities.  And of course, if a repair needs to be done, that's a plumbing problem and AttaBoy Plumbing can fix it!

AttaBoy Plumbing Company proudly provides plumbing services for the central Indiana area including, Indianapolis, Fishers, Carmel, Geist, Broad Ripple, Noblesville, Zionsville, Westfield, Beech Grove, Avon, Greenwood, Fortville, Brownsburg, Speedway, Lawrence, McCordsville, and New Palestine.

Wednesday, August 25, 2010 by Laura Behney

"I had a flood basement caused by a clog in the main line to the Sewer. AttaBoy was able to send someone right away to fix the problem. I was recommended to them from a friend and I will definitely recommend them to mine."

We love getting new customers because an existing customer referred them.  That means a lot to us that our customers trust us with their friends and family!  Also, we have a GREAT referral program that gives you a $25 gift certificate from GiftCertificates.com for EVERY referral you give us that schedules work with AttaBoy!  It's a great deal!

So tell you friends in Fishers, Carmel, Noblesville, Zionsville, Broad Ripple, and Indianapolis that AttaBoy Plumbing is the only plumbing company you trust with your drains, water heaters, water softeners, sump pumps, water softeners, basement flooding, toilets, leaks and all your plumbing problems.  AttaBoy can repair them all!

Hot Water Heater Blues

Tuesday, August 17, 2010 by Laura Behney
Remember in one of my recent posts, I mentioned that our family vacationed in Wyoming this summer and that it's hard for us to go anywhere and not check out the plumbing....

Our vacation was perfect, except for one thing....the hot water heater in the lodging we stayed at.  It just could NOT keep enough water hot enough for a family of four to get ready in the morning!  And just like eating dinner, it always seemed that mom is the last!  Brrrr...washing hair in freezing cold water is no fun!!

So of course, we checked out the hot water heater and found that it in fact was long over due for service, but we were on vacation!! :)

So moms, if you are always the one to be stuck with the cold shower, don't wash your hair in freezing water!  Call AttaBoy Plumbing!  We can do a quick diagnostic test on your water heater and determine the cause for the problem and give you options that will best meet your needs and budget.  We'll have you back to a relaxing, steaming shower in no time!

Call the plumbing experts in Indianapolis, Fishers, Carmel, Noblesville, Geist, Zionsville, Broad Ripple and Greenwood!  Your local plumber, AttaBoy Plumbing Company!  317-522-0591!  And say "I want hot water!"  We'll understand.

Customer loves our Indianapolis Plumbers!

Monday, August 16, 2010 by Laura Behney
I love receiving phone calls or reading online reviews from customers who have enjoyed their AttaBoy Plumbing experience.  Here is a recent Google review from a customer I'll call JG:

"Attaboy Plumbing came to fix my clogged kitchen sink drain. I called and they were able to come within the next few hours. They even called to let me know they were on their way during the two hour window. As a mom of twins, the kitchen sink is used all the time and much more than I realized. I even signed up for the Buddy Plan and will receive discounts during the year for any other plumbing needs I might have! I would recommend them to anyone."

Thanks JG, for the great review and for allowing us to serve you AND for remembering that when "drips, leaks and clogs annoy, call the Plumbers of AttaBoy!"

Cloudy Dishes - Water Softener Issues

Friday, August 13, 2010 by Laura Behney
Yes, we have the hardest water in the country here in central Indiana and if you don't have a water softener, you know that better than anyone!

I do have a solution to get rid of the white "cloud" on your drinking glasses, silverware, shower head, etc.  It's regular White Vinegar.

All you do is fill your sink with warm water and pour in some white vinegar (about 4 parts water to 1 part vinegar.....more vinegar if your dishes are really cloudy) and then put your silverware in the bottom of the sink and then your glasses on top of that.  Make sure the water fully covers the dishes.  Then, let them soak for about 10 minutes.  After that, wash them with regular dish soap, (scrub a little if necessary), rinse and you will feel like you have NEW dishes!!

For your shower head, just take it off and let it soak in the sink for about 10 minutes.  When you put it back on, you'll be amazed at the full stream of water!

Here are some tips to reduce the "clouds":
  • Make sure you have plenty of salt in your water softener salt tank
  • Make sure your water softener is in good working order and that it is regenerating properly
  • If you don't have a water softener or water conditioner, I highly recommend getting one - the new "salt-less" systems (such as a Freije system), are GREAT! (Your plumbing mechanicals will thank you!)  Your Indianapolis, Fishers, Carmel, Noblesville, Zionsville and Geist Plumber, AttaBoy Plumbing Company can help you with that!
So there's a nice little project for you this weekend.  With all the money you saved by not buying new dishes, you can go out to dinner and dirty someone ELSE'S dishes!

Geist Plumbers can handle a little rain!

Thursday, August 12, 2010 by Laura Behney
Yesterday's quick and strong thunderstorms prompted me to let everyone know that when the rains come, so do many plumbing problems.   From sump pumps being overworked and giving out, to battery back-up sump pumps being triggered and the battery failing, to clogged drains, to water heaters bursting, etc.

I was in the Geist area yesterday when the storms came through and the streets quickly flooded.  I knew that we would be getting calls from our Geist customers needing help with their plumbing!

I always found it strange that when the weather changes, plumbing companies tend to get very busy.  For example, did you know that when the barometric pressure changes outside, that it can wreak havoc on plumbing mechanicals that are on the verge of going out?  It's true.  So whenever you see the weatherman showing a "low pressure" moving over Indianapolis, Fishers, Carmel, Noblesville, Geist, etc, keep an eye on your plumbing and if you see a problem.....

Better Call AttaBoy!  317-522-0591

Wyoming Plumbing Problems vs Indianapolis Plumbing Problems

Wednesday, August 11, 2010 by Laura Behney
Our family was recently blessed to be able to take a family vacation to Wyoming.  If you've never been, I highly recommend it!  Spectacular beauty everywhere you look!

We decided to drive to Wyoming (just a short 25 hour trip!) and loaded the family "truckster" for the adventure!  Vacationing with children, you get to check out many bathrooms along the way, which is always a "treat".  Being plumbing company owners, you tend to look at toilets, drains and water heaters in a whole new way.....comes with the territory.  I will tell you that almost every stop we made, the bathrooms were clean and in good working order and the people were always friendly!  (I LOVE Americans!)

While folks in Wyoming don't have to deal too much with flooded basements and water softeners, like we do here in Indianapolis, they do have to worry about frozen pipes and preparing extensively for the harsh, long winter weather.  We spoke with a few locals about, what else, their plumbing, and they certainly have learned how to prepare for the worst.  They are a rugged people!

So this winter here in Indianapolis, Fishers, Carmel, Noblesville, etc., while we are complaining about our 4-6" of snow  (and the grocery has run out of milk), think of the folks in Wyoming who typically get around 400" each winter and be thankful!  But they say the skiing is GREAT!
