Indianapolis Bathroom Plumbing

Monday, June 6, 2011 by Richard Behney
AttaBoy Plumbing Company - IndianapolisSo, I answer this call from an Indianapolis customer who immediately asks, "do you do bathroom plumbing?"  I have to admit that that kind of plumbing question always makes me smile.  Oh I know it is a good and fair question...I mean, doctors and mechanics specialize...so it very well can make good sense that plumbers would specialize in areas of the home too.  As it turned this Indianapolis plumbing customer had three distinct concerns in his bathroom: a leaking toilet, a clogged tub drain, and he was interested in having us install  two new sink faucets.  All three jobs we can handle with ease.  So, after a short conversation, we scheduled a service call to take a look at his needs and to give him an exact price for the job(s).  Turns out we did all three jobs and earned a new customer...attaboy!  If it leaks, drips, or clogs...in your bathroom; your AttaBoy plumber has seen it before and can get the job done.

Frozen Water Lines and Pipes

Thursday, January 20, 2011 by Buddy the Plumber

AttaBoy Plumbing CompanyThe weather forecasters are predicting extremely low temperatures this evening with the wind chill below zero.  Yikes!  Spring can't come soon enough for this plumber!

Just a friendly reminder to all of our friends and valued customers to leave a faucet slighly turned on to reduce the chances of your water pipes freezing.  Also, open up the cabinet doors under your kitchen sink and bathroom sinks to allow heat to reach those pipes.

If you do end up with frozen pipes or water lines, call AttaBoy Plumbing, Heating and Cooling and we will get you unfrozen lickety split!

Your plumber,
~Buddy~

Don't forget we service all of Marion and Hamilton counties (including Indianapolis, Fishers, Carmel, Broad Ripple, Geist, Noblesville, Westfield, Zionsville, Beech Grove, Greenwood and Avon).

Don't worry about your plumbing on vacation!

I just can't show this picture enough! It was taken in Michigan, however, could easily be a picture taken in Carmel, Geist, Fishers, Greenwood, Noblesville, Indianapolis, etc.

It is a picture of a garage that had a water line burst while the homeowners were on vacation.  After the water line reputured, unfortunately, temperatures dropped below freezing turning the garage into a frozen nightmare.  Not the scene that you want to find returning from a relaxing vacation!

As the holiday season is fast approaching and folks are planning vacations, don't forget to plan on protecting your home while you are gone by taking the following easy precautions:
  • Turn off the main water shut-off valve to your home.
  • Open cabinet doors of all bathroom vanities and kitchen cupboards to allow warm air to heat the pipes under the sink.
  • Secure windows, crawlspace openings and basement doors to keep the cold away from your water pipes.
  • Remove hoses from outside hose spigots.
By doing these few things, you will be able to enjoy that well-deserved vacation and not even think about calling a plumber or about AttaBoy Plumbing Company!  But you could send us a postcard if you want! :)

Gas leak forces evacuation of Noblesville Walmart

Wednesday, August 25, 2010 by Laura Behney

Gas leaks are serious.  Thankfully, this was caught in time.  Here's the story from WTHR from last week:

Noblesville - The Walmart at 16865 Clover Road was evacuated overnight because of a gas leak.

Around 3:30 Wednesday morning, an employee moving boxes in the rear of the store punctured a gas line.

Employees heard a hissing sound and then smelled the natural gas odor.

The manager quickly called the fire department.  They evacuated all the employees and one woman who was shopping.

It took about an hour for the gas company to shut down the line.

Just before 5:00 a.m., the all clear was given and everyone was allowed back in the store.

So follow the actions of this "on the ball" employee....whenever you think you smell a gas leak, leave the premises and call the authorities.  And of course, if a repair needs to be done, that's a plumbing problem and AttaBoy Plumbing can fix it!

Typical "Old Home" Drain Clog Problem in Indianapolis

Friday, August 20, 2010 by Buddy the Plumber
One of any plumbing company's most frequent jobs is to clear drains. The majority of stoppages under kitchen sinks and bathroom lavatories are relatively basic to clean out with a cable machine.   Sometimes however, especially in older homes, the pipes themselves get so corroded and built up inside (much like a an artery with plaque) that only replacement of the drain line will really do the job.

Such was the case with one Indianapolis plumbing customer of ours this week. She has had ongoing problems with her bath lavatory drain clogging and regardless of what plumbers have done in the past, it just keeps re-clogging.  Our recommendation for her was to replace that drain line and be done with it. While it will cost more in the short term, it won't be long before it will actually be saving her money since she will no longer have to keep calling plumbers to cable it out over and over again.

Do you know someone having similar problems in their older home in Broad Ripple or Zionsville?
Give AttaBoy Plumbing a call.

Your plumber,

Buddy

Wyoming Plumbing Problems vs Indianapolis Plumbing Problems

Wednesday, August 11, 2010 by Laura Behney
Our family was recently blessed to be able to take a family vacation to Wyoming.  If you've never been, I highly recommend it!  Spectacular beauty everywhere you look!

We decided to drive to Wyoming (just a short 25 hour trip!) and loaded the family "truckster" for the adventure!  Vacationing with children, you get to check out many bathrooms along the way, which is always a "treat".  Being plumbing company owners, you tend to look at toilets, drains and water heaters in a whole new way.....comes with the territory.  I will tell you that almost every stop we made, the bathrooms were clean and in good working order and the people were always friendly!  (I LOVE Americans!)

While folks in Wyoming don't have to deal too much with flooded basements and water softeners, like we do here in Indianapolis, they do have to worry about frozen pipes and preparing extensively for the harsh, long winter weather.  We spoke with a few locals about, what else, their plumbing, and they certainly have learned how to prepare for the worst.  They are a rugged people!

So this winter here in Indianapolis, Fishers, Carmel, Noblesville, etc., while we are complaining about our 4-6" of snow  (and the grocery has run out of milk), think of the folks in Wyoming who typically get around 400" each winter and be thankful!  But they say the skiing is GREAT!
